I'm expecting a baby boy any day now. My due date actually came and went yesterday. Oddly enough, my due date with this baby is exactly the same due date I had with Seth. Seth arrived 1 week late, and I'm started to think this kid may just do the exact same thing... as in the same birthday... maybe?!! We had Seth's birthday party a little early and celebrated last Saturday at the Fire Museum of Memphis. A couple of weeks before his party I was tired from work, Christmas shenanigans, and a bunch of sleepless nights in a row that sometimes occur when you're nearly 9 months pregnant and just can't get comfortable for all the trying in the world. Despite my lack of energy, I just couldn't NOT paint something for Seth's birthday invitations. It'd been a while since I'd completed a painting, mostly just packaging and filling orders from Thanksgiving through Christmas, so it felt really good to have a newly finished piece, even if it was just a little red firetruck. And Seth liked it so much. He proudly identified it as a firetruck and then made his "whoo-ooo" siren sound. I love, love, love painting custom watercolor pieces for people, but I didn't take any orders this past year because I cut back my work hours to make for less stressful "mom hours." I don't regret one single playground adventure, and I still managed to fill my creativity cravings by painting just a few custom pieces for family members. I did birthday invitations for my cousin's two kiddos. And a Save the Date for my brother who is getting married in June! This past week I've been toying around an idea in my head for my next custom piece... a birth announcement for this baby I am so *patiently* waiting on. I think I've got the painting part figured out. Birth details to be determined!!
