Crawfish and 'Shoes
Robert travels fairly often for work, and recently he decided he wanted to bring back some crawfish from the coast for a little get-together. To my surprise, he asked me to make some invitations.
Honestly, my first thought was ain't nobody got time for that, but I could tell he was excited about it. He's seen me make lots of invites for other people's parties, and I guess he wanted our crawfish boil to be legit. He's from the Mississippi gulf coast, and I guess I kind of forgot for a second how dang serious he is about his crawfish. He even already knew how he wanted the invitation to look.
He wanted a crawfish going like this...
...with a horseshoe.
Fair enough. So I painted this...
...and we sent out these in the nick of time.
That Saturday the crawfish made it back to Memphis alive, and Rusty gave them a cautious inspection.
Unfortunately, it was unseasonably cold that day!! Jackets were a must!
The weather may have been cool but the crawfish were HOT. In more ways than one!
All in all, it was a really fun day. We might just make it an annual event. After all, I already have the invitations! Plus the yard was too wet to play horseshoes, so I call a do-over!
