I started working on a really detailed painting this week. It'll take me a while to complete so this morning it felt good to whip out two little alphabet paintings, start to finish. Instant gratification. B is for Bridge. D is for Ducks. As in the Peabody ducks. I got curious about the duck situation while I was working on this painting so I looked it up. According to peabodymemphis.com: Back in the 1930's the general manager of the Peabody and his friend had a little too much whiskey after returning from a duck hunting trip over in Arkansas. They decided it'd be funny to put a few of their duck hunting decoys in the lobby fountain. Apparently back then, folks used live ducks as decoys. So anyways, the next morning there they were, 3 little ducks swimming around in the fountain. Everyone actually reacted very enthusiastically to the spectacle so there ya go! The rest is history!
